United Way Awards Grants

The Shelby County United Way announces six Special Project Grant Applications were approved during the past quarter. Agape Distribution was awarded $3500.00 to assist with the food pantry. They serve over 7,500 unduplicated residents each year and over 2.2 million pounds of food to the community.

Charity League was awarded $3200.00 for the purchase of new clothes for local students. Students are referred by school districts and local human service organizations.

The Sidney Shelby County Bicentennial Committee was awarded $2,500.00 for the Wilson-Lenox Third Grade Experience. Students will experience history through hands-on activities in 15 minute sessions and tour the Wilson-Lenox house.

The Shelby County Workforce was awarded $3,500.00 for the Career Exploration Academy. The annual event has middle school and high school students from all participating local school districts experience hands on activities in 40 different local careers provided by 25 Workforce Partners.

The West Ohio Food Bank was awarded $10,820.00 to upgrade computers and monitors. The food bank supports an 11 county region, of which Shelby County is the furthest south. Many local food pantries in Shelby County utilize the West Ohio Food Bank for food.

The Lake Loramie Improvement Association was awarded $15,000.00 for an A.D.A. compliant family glider and concrete work as they complete phase 2 of bringing adaptive swings and picnic tables to Lake Loramie State Park. Phase 1 was completed last year with the installation of a board safe adaptive launch
