Scott Barr, Shelby County United Way President and CEO, has announced the 2022 Board Chair will be Chad Hollinger, Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services. Hollinger has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2019, serving the past two years on the Executive Committee. He also serves as the chair of the allocation committee for ‘Promoting Health & Well Being’ and chairs the Community Initiatives Committee. Hollinger shares, “I am humbled to serve the Board and our community as the 2022 Board Chair. The great work that the Shelby County United Way performs is only possible when the community offers their time, talent, and financial support to the endeavor. The City of Sidney has afforded me countless opportunities to grow as a leader. It is a privilege to be able to share the fruits of this investment with the community.”
Hollinger began with the City in 2003 as a firefighter/EMT-Basic and has now served as the 26th Chief of the department for one year. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology and is a 2018 graduate of the Ohio Fire Executive program. Hollinger currently serves on the New Choices, Inc. Domestic Violence Shelter Board of Directors as the vice-president. He is a member of the YMCA’s Christian Mission Committee and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Kiwanis Club of Sidney. Chief Hollinger serves on numerous committees for the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association and serves on the Shelby County Local Emergency Planning Commission and MidWest Ohio Arson Seminar boards. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Society of Fire Service Instructors, the Ohio Fire Chief’s Association, and the Shelby County Fire Chiefs. He and his wife, Beth, live in the Sidney area with their 2 daughters.
